Once upon a time, Australia’s Budget was a tightly guarded secret and, consequently, full of surprises. This year’s Budget followed the modern fashion trend for Budgets – pre-Budget announcements were confirmed, a few well-sourced leaks were proven true, a few speculative newspaper articles turned out to be ill-informed, a few old announcements were re-announced, and there was still room for a surprise or two.
