Industry Experience

Ernie joined Greenwoods & Freehills Pty Limited in 1989 and advises on a wide range of corporate tax matters.  This includes advising on leveraged leases, due diligence investigations, foreign source income, corporate restructuring, schemes of arrangement, management buyouts, overseas investment in Australia, employee share acquisition schemes and privatisation.  His experience extends across a range of industries, including manufacturing, property and banking and finance.

In particular, Ernie has advised extensively on controlled foreign company (“CFC”) and foreign investment fund (“FIF”) issues for a wide range of clients.

Professional Background

Ernie holds Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degrees from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Sydney. Ernie is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and is an Associate of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as well as a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
