Industry Experience

Jane has extensive experience of mergers and acquisitions, including capital raising, corporate reorganisations and scrip issues. She has also advised on capital management issues, in particular, capital reductions, buy-backs and employee share arrangements.

In addition, Jane has been closely involved in an array of transactions in the banking and finance industry, in particular, outbound investments, leveraged and cross-border leasing, securitisations, international finance structures, stapling arrangements and other tax-based financial transactions.

Professional Background

Jane has an honours law degree from Aberdeen University in Scotland and a Masters of Law from the University of British Columbia, Canada. After completing her legal studies, she worked in Scotland for a major commercial law firm to complete her Articles. She then moved to London where she worked for Slaughter and May for over 2 years doing corporate tax work. She relocated to Sydney in June 1997 and originally worked for one of the major law firms in its tax department. Jane joined Greenwoods & Freehills in March 2002.

She is a qualified lawyer in Scotland, England & Wales and New South Wales. Jane is a member of the Technical Committee of the NSW Branch of the Taxation Institute of Australia (TIA).
